The Boston Globe: Bearing Witness -Trailer

Anthem Multimedia hired me to create a piece that would get them in to festivals. As a documentary on journalism, we needed to find creative solutions to problems that other trailers on journalism had. She knew that I could deliver.

Lead Editor and Music Composer.

The goal was to create a piece that would intrigue festival owners to watch the entirety of the piece.

This needed to be an interesting piece, but the subject matter was not inherently flashy. There were no guns, no screaming, or other high energy moments you can think of.

I did this by studying other trailers, learning and understanding the footage that we had to work with, and experimenting with the tone that we needed.

After Dina and I agreed on a tone, I wanted to add title cards to speed the audience in the journey as well add a little bit of drama and intrigue. We then took that had an animator create the effects for us.

It all came together in the end to make a delightful 2 minute trailer that got the piece entered in to and nominated for the Emmys.

My favorite highlight sequence is the intro with the tactile news reading machine thing. The cuts are just delicious and the sound mixer did an excellent job to bring it even more to life.
