The Christian & Missionary Alliance: Great Commission Day

“I was hesitant to outsource something this big, but Max made it painless. He got it right from the jump, understood our goals, and elevated the work. That’s why I’m planning to build out more contracts with him.”

The Christian & Missionary Alliance: Great Commission Day

Context

Joshua Whiteman and his team at the Christian & Missionary Alliance came to me with a mountain of raw footage.

Five interviews. Fifteen hours of B-roll.

This piece wasn’t a recap. It was the emotional center of their Great Commission Day campaign.

It needed to move donors.

It needed to feel alive.

And it had to be finished in a week.

Challenge

The footage was honest and passionate, but directionless.

No clear narrative thread. No pacing. No emotional arc.

Creative Approach

I told Joshua exactly what I tell every stressed producer.

“This will work. I’ve done it before.”

Because it was true.

That confidence gave him room to breathe.

From there, I took full ownership.

Structure. Pacing. Music. Graphics. Emotional arc. All of it.

I watched the interviews like puzzle pieces.

Some were redundant. Some had gold hidden in hesitation.

My job was to listen until the story revealed itself.

Then one quote changed everything.

“I was talking to a woman on the subway about Jesus, and when it finally clicked for her, she asked: ‘Why did it take people so long to tell me this?’”

That line became the heartbeat.

The mission. The call to act.

I built the film around that moment.

The pacing rose, held, and then fell into silence right before the final ask.

Outcome

The first cut was delivered in one day.

It was ninety-five percent there.

Revisions were fast. Clear. Collaborative.

I brought in a colorist and sound designer to elevate the polish because the story deserved it.

When the final cut landed, Joshua said,

“I was hesitant to outsource something this big, but Max made it painless. He got it right from the jump, understood our goals, and elevated the work. That’s why I’m planning to build out more contracts with him.”

They even told me to charge more.

I didn’t.
